Gertrude Glasker’s Recovery Story

LifeWorks Rehab helped her get home after knee surgery.

I came to Culpeper Health & Rehabilitation Center after having knee replacement surgery. The surgery hadn’t gone smoothly and I was in so much pain–at that point I truly didn’t know if I’d ever be able to get back to normal again and be able to do the things I was used to doing. I was very worried, and was having trouble keeping a positive outlook.

Once I arrived at Culpeper Health & Rehabilitation Center, the people I met there quickly got me headed in the right direction, both physically and mentally. They helped me know that the pain was not going to last forever, and that together we were going to get through this. They made me feel like everything I was going through was just a temporary setback, and gave me confidence that I’d get through it. The LifeWorks Rehab therapists were an incredible team. We worked hard, but there was so much laughter and friendliness, too–they really went out of their way to get to know you. It was a very personal experience. We were just like family–everyone got along so well. I learned so much at Culpeper Health & Rehabilitation Center. They taught me how to do activities correctly as well as the importance of exercise and good health when I returned home. I loved the activities, too–they went out of their way to keep you busy and active and make it so you really enjoyed your time there.

My daughter was initially very concerned when I had to go to Culpeper Health & Rehabilitation Center, but she couldn’t be happier about the care I received. I feel great about the care I received, too, and I truly don’t think I could have been at a better place. When it was time to go home, the staff put on a gradation ceremony for me, complete with cap and gown. It was so much fun! There was a part of me that didn’t want to go home. The people at Culpeper Health & Rehabilitation Center made all of the difference–the care I received there was phenomenal.
